Hohner Clavinet maintenance and repair

The Hohner Clavinet was produced from the early sixties until the early eighties. This means every Clavinet will be over 35 years old by now. It’s assumable, if your Clavinet is still in stock condition, it probably isn’t functioning properly anymore. Known symptoms are:

– Out of tune

– Dead keys

– Difference in sound and volume of every key

– Double striking

– Hum and noise in signal

– Click- and pop noises when striking and releasing a key

– Bad damping (especially on lower keys)

All these unwanted symptoms can be fixed by Vintage Instrument Service. Three standard service packages are offered. All rates are including materials and excluding VAT. Scroll further below to check the most common services for a Clavinet D6 and E7.

Hohner Clavinet package 1 €125,- incl vat

Tuning

– Voicing

The Clavinet has a very primitive tuning mechanism, therefore it needs tuning on a regular bases. When voicing a Clavinet all volumes and sounds per key are equalized.

Hohner Clavinet package 2 €460,- incl vat

– Voicing

– Replacing key bushings

– Replacing hammertips

Package 2 includes package 1 and also the replacement of some materials inside the Clavinet. Replacing the keybushings will make your action like new. No more noise, stuck keys and keyplay anymore. Replacing the hammertips ensures an optimal strike of the string and makes sure the hammertips don’t stick on the strings like old ones do that get dried out and sticky. This is where the unwanted pop noises are coming from.
